Michel Colin creates impressionistic images from original Polaroid SX-70 photographs. The pictures were re-designed within the hour they have been taken. Polaroid SX-70 film doesn't exist anymore. All these pictures are images from the past technology. Photoshop or any computerized image cannot bring such result. It's hand made instant painted Polaroids.
The initial picture has to be perfect, even if the camera is only a primitive and noisy image box. Then Michel Colin needs to work on it as fast as possible, where ever he stands. Most of these pictures were designed on bar tables, or local bedrooms.
Michel Colin passion for impressionist artists from Claude Monet to Edward Hopper, bring him to show his works in few exhibition in Zurich (1989), Bordeaux (1991) and Geneva (1994).
The Web and the new print on canvas technology give him a reason to restaure a collection of images coming from trips around the world. Many of the images presented here can be purchased as signed limited edition canvas prints. Very large size canvas can be obtained from high defintion scans of the original pictures.
And the question will still be the same : "Strange image, but what is it, a painting or a photograph ?"
